ECCTA & IDV implementation update 19 Dec 2025
Hopefully our final update on the implementation of IDV by Companies House on 18 November 2025.
We’re pleased to report that all the initial problems with filings have now been resolved. The only remaining “issues” are in relation to verification due dates showing at Companies House:
Directors with the wrong filing deadlines: whose deadlines should be the confirmation statement due date, but they are showing as 18 November 2025.
This issue still persists and we think can just be ignored, and the director should submit their UID as part of the confirmation statement filing, whenever that falls due.
PSCs who are also directors: their filing window should be 14 days ending on the confirmation statement due date, but they are showing by reference to their birth month. This is because Companies House has been unable to match the PSC with the director in their own records. Therefore, while they are – legally- the same person (so should have the same filing window dates) Companies House does not treat them as such. The explanation provided for this is that “due to the way in which names are been captured on Companise House systems, with first and middle name recorded in a different field structure between Director and PSC records, then the assignment process has treated the appointments as different people.”
Without giving any legal advice, we think a sensible approach to handling this is to subnit UIDs to Companies House by reference to their own filing dates, even if they may not be 100% legally correct. If you are unsure about this, please seek professional advice.
